When's the best time for Baby Photos?

Baby photos are a must have for any family album, and why not take the opportunity to make them just a bit more special than usual? Plan ahead and get some beautiful shots of your newborn baby.

Four to five months is ideal for some shots with character:

..when your baby is beginning to make eye contact and interact with the camera. It's time for cherubic smiles, new discoveries and genuine delight in each other. You can begin to see the face that you'll know as them for the rest of their lives. These memories are the ones you'll want to recall in years to come with the tired moments forgotten and the warmth of your connection fresh and ready for a great beginning.

We also have a strong demand for portraits of newborns:

..to capture a true image of the tender life we bring into this world. For your own comfort, we'd recommend that you book this for approximately 2-3 weeks after the birth, to give both of you the time you need to get settled into a routine and are up to venturing out into the wide world again.

But if you want to book it for the day you're taking baby home from the hospital we're in!

This is a magical time when the baby is just beginning to uncurl, before they've really had a chance to wake up to the world outside. It's the time to capture all the new sensations that come with this new life: the warmth of infinitely trusting snuggles to mum's neck, the tight furled squeeze of a tiny fist about your finger, a yawn of baby breath, the incredible peace of newborn sleep, the fragile weight of that new mind cupped in the palm of your hand, the infinite contentment after a feed, a memory of just how small that little crinkled foot really was...

NB: This is also a time for less pristine surprises: a time of squirts, burps and bubbles. We've all got a great sense of humour and understand what newborns are all about.

[If you like, we can capture a few memories of this too: the surprise on a new parent's face mirrored by a look of vast satisfaction on baby's. Or we can edit those bits out just as easily.]

It's up to you: this is about distilling your memories.
